This book is a unique collection of ‘challenging and rare cases’ in Urology which were seen and treated by the author during the last 4 decades. The author has collected these cases during working in two major healthcare institutions of India – All India Institute of Medical sciences, New Delhi and Medanta, The Medicity Hospital, Gurgaon, Haryana.These being tertiary care referral hospitals, several challenging and rare cases of Urology which a urologist may see only once in his life time, came for the treatment. The specialty of urology has had several advances during the last four decades. These advances are reflected in the modality of investigations and management of these cases which changed depending on the year in which they were treated. However, the basic concept and philosophy behind the management process has remained the same. This book has been conceptualized with the idea to share the experience to the next generation of urologists and postgraduates in order to enhance their knowledge and approach in the management of these cases. This book emphasizes the management of a case according to the experience of the treating surgeon, availability of diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, the level of healthcare and affordability of the patients who are paying from their own pockets. These factors influence the process of management in many parts of the world particularly in developing countries.This book has 15 chapters and more than 250 cases covering most of the topics in Urology. This book is an additional supplement to the existing books in Urology. This book will be useful for the practitioners, surgeons, urologist and post graduate students in surgery and urology.
